Single Build Resolution
This is the maximum supported resolution for building a single chunk (untiled) terrain.

Tiled Build Resolution
With Tiled Builds, you can split a terrain into multiple chunks and build large scale worlds at any resolution.

Split Single Build to Tiles
When building a single chunk terrain, the output can be optionally split into tiles for consumption in realtime engines or DCC applications.
Save as heightfield
Export terrains in 32-bit, 16-bit, and 8-bit formats including OpenEXR, TIFF, RAW, etc.
Save as Point Cloud
Export terrains, masks, or data as an XYZ point cloud, which can be useful for generative guides in other applications such as growing trees, or creating zones in game engines.
Automatic LODs
When exporting, you can choose the number of LODs to generate alongside the main high resolution mesh.

Color Production
Data Maps
Generate rainfall, water flow, sedimentation, and various other types of data. You can even generate data after-the-fact on existing terrains, including satellite elevation models. Data Maps are a powerful aspect of Gaea. Their primary use is texture generation, but they can just as easily be used to further process the terrain and even drive other nodes in the form of influence masks.

Light Node
The Light Node uses Gaea's proprietary heightfield render engine to create crisp shadows and lighting. You can create beautiful, realtime renders in the viewport to showcase your terrain, or bake the lighting into texture maps. Physical components such as AO and Shadows can be extracted from the lighting output, and can be used to drive other aspects of your terrain, such as melting snow in sunlit portions.
Sunlight Integral
Capture a composite light/shadow map of a large period up to a whole year. Use it to drive erosion, snow melt, or vegetation growth.

Building Capabilities
Bake Nodes
Baked nodes can display previews at higher resolution than your normal preview, while allowing you to work with the current lower resolution previews for the rest of the graph. Bake resolution is limited to the highest single tile resolution of your edition.
Build Mutations
Gaea provides a mutation facility during build to create multiple variations of the same terrain. This gives you a unique terrain in every mutation while still following the core recipe of your graph.
Extend + Automate
Automation
Automate builds using exposed parameters and other facilities provided by the Build Swarm.
TORX File Format
Save terrains in the .NET friendly XML format. With this open format, you can modify and automate any element.
